In ENDO 2022, WEO will continue the progress made in its two previous world congresses to encourage the sharing of expertise and research among colleagues. Planning a conference in the COVID-19 era has undoubtedly been challenging. However, the need for a hybrid format for the 3rd Congress has also provided the opportunity to reach more participants than ever before.

ENDO 2022 President, Dr. Fabian Emura, and Co-President, Dr. Hisao Tajiri shared their own thoughts on the upcoming congress. They noted that “The ENDO 2022 Organizing Committee decided to move ahead with the hybrid format for the Congress to facilitate on-site and virtual participation, broadcasting live from the Kyoto Convention Center. The Congress has adopted new elements to offer an innovative and attractive conference experience to all delegates and sponsors. In addition, the ENDO 2022 program will be available on-demand for one month for all registered attendees. If by the time of the Congress travel to Kyoto is again possible, we foresee receiving a limited number of international delegates and we will be prepared for that.”

The ENDO 2022 Scientific Program is now available

The Scientific Committee, under the chairmanship of Dr. Prateek Sharma and Dr. Yutaka Saito, has now finalized the adaptation of the program to a hybrid format. As Dr. Sharma commented “We are truly honored and grateful to have the support of such a distinguished pool of experts from around the world as the ENDO 2022 faculty. Together with Yutaka, we have now re-organized the sessions, considering the best timing for both faculty and attendees joining the Congress from all countries. We are confident that this effort will bring together the highest number of participants in the history of ENDO congresses.”

With the support of international experts and scientific partners, the planning for a stimulating three-day program is now well underway. Highlights of the program include:

  • 7 parallel scientific streams broadcasting live from Kyoto, and 3 on-site rooms for welcoming in-person attendees
  • 2 full days of live demonstrations, broadcasting from China, Japan, India, and South Korea, and featuring live discussion
  • 6 hybrid sessions of hands-on training, using the latest technology to connect international experts and allow live discussion
  • More than 15 expert scientific symposia and 10 “distinguished lectures”
  • 6 joint symposia with partner societies
  • WEO Video World Cup and e-poster sessions

The best of endoscopy research will be presented virtually

The Scientific Committee is delighted to record that a total of 514 abstracts have been accepted for ENDO 2022, with 66% from the Asia-Pacific region, 6% from the Americas, and 25% from Europe/Middle East. The top 10 countries represented are: Japan, China, Russia, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Italy, Brazil, Taiwan, and the United States.

Of those submitted, 110 have been selected for oral presentations and the remaining 404 abstracts will form part of the ENDO 2022 scientific program as e-posters. To accommodate this volume of abstracts and allow the best discussion and viewing opportunities, two new streams solely dedicated to the presentation of oral abstracts and e-posters have been added to the program.
