FIT for Screening

‘FIT for Screening’ is an Expert Working Group of the Colorectal Cancer (CRC) Screening Committee.

Population screening for CRC using guaiac-based faecal occult blood tests (gFOBT) reduces disease-specific mortality but the superior performance characteristics of faecal immunochemical tests for haemoglobin (FIT) makes them a better choice for population screening. The Expert Working Group ‘FIT for Screening’ focuses on the implementation of FIT screening around the world and provides a platform to address issues around optimisation and tailoring of FIT in CRC screening programmes.
