WISE 2023 Module One welcomes more than 40 participants from over 20 countries

The WEO International School of EUS (WISE, founded in 2018 by Professor Dong Wan Seo, is a state-of-the-art EUS training program focused on teaching a specialized group of doctors in their early careers. WEO’s aim is to prepare the selected trainees by providing them with the necessary tools to become future leaders in the area of EUS. Today, many young doctors continue to benefit from their WISE training.

Module One of the 6th WISE course (2023) took off with more than 40 eager participants from over 20 countries, including Algeria, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, India, Morocco, Portugal, Thailand, USA, and several more. Distinguished leading experts, such as Professor Simone Guaraldi from Brazil, Professor Yousuke Nakai from Japan, and Professor Vikram Bhatia from India, shared insights on the preparation of EUS equipment and basic EUS anatomy. Six participants were also invited to share their cases online during this first module.

A further four online modules, covering topics in intermediate to advanced EUS, will take place through the year and the top six participants will be selected to attend an exclusive onsite hands-on training program at the renowned Asan Medical Center in Seoul.

Professor Dong Wan Seo, the WISE project founder and leader, has this to say: “I am really glad to see that WISE has grown from strength to strength. From its humble beginning of six trainees, it has now developed into a world-renowned reputable EUS training platform where endosonographers from all continents gather to learn from each other, to share knowledge, expand their network, and exchange views, all for the common goal of better patient care through EUS. I am delighted that WISE has now trained more than 200 doctors and look forward to welcoming new members. “
