On behalf of the WEO Governing Council, WEO President Professor Hisao Tajiri is pleased to introduce Michel Neijmann as the new WEO Executive Director.
Under the excellent leadership of Hilary Hamilton-Gibbs, the WEO Secretariat has grown in recent years. However, Hilary has now decided to step down from association management. After an extensive selection process, the WEO Executive Committee chose Michel Neijmann as the best fit for WEO.
In a career spanning more than 30 years, Michel has worked in various positions supporting scientific organizations, particularly in the management of their events and the development of community strategies. Born and raised in Amsterdam, Michel has also lived and worked in Istanbul, Rome, and Stockholm. He has now settled in Munich to support WEO in its mission to provide excellent education in endoscopy worldwide.
Michel took up his post on March 1st. Over the next few months he will be working closely with Hilary on the transition, which will be formalized on July 1st this year. We are delighted to have Michel on board, and he has the full support of the team. Fortunately, Hilary will remain available to WEO to make the transition as smooth as possible and as senior consultant for the foreseeable future.
