WEO is proud to announce that applications are now open for the fourth Emerging Stars course.

Professor Mostafa, with his usual twinkle in his eye as he shares his vision about his brainchild, states: "The goal is to provide a group of promising young doctors with the skills to become leaders in the field. They will form a network of experts who will take over as ‘next generation.’ After all, today’s experts are tomorrow’s patients, and we should make sure that we will have a strong group looking after our needs once we retire."

The Emerging Stars curriculum comprises three training modules. Each module will take six to seven days to complete and will cover both technical skills (such as teaching with models and simulators, and new technologies) and soft skills (such as communication, leadership, and dealing with the media). The first module will take place later in 2024.

Applicants must be under the age of 45 years, be fully trained and certified in gastroenterology and/or surgery with a minimum of five years' experience in endoscopy, and have high proficiency in English. In addition, candidates need to have strong social and communication skills, should have published in highly reputed journals and be employed at a recognized center with sufficient number of staff and procedures.

Applications for the class of 2024/2025 are now open.
